I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Willie Lock to learn five random facts about himself and the story behind his song My Brother. Check out my interview with Willie below:
Loryn: How has the pandemic changed you?
Willie: The pandemic forced me to get creative and start writing as many new songs as possible. I certainly didn't think I would ever be performing to a phone screen in my living room, but it definitely made me a better performer overall. I will also never take a live show/concert for granted again.
Loryn: What lesson has the entertainment industry taught you?
Willie: Be persistent. The entertainment industry is an industry of rejection by nature, but all it takes is one moment to change the trajectory of your career. If you use the setbacks as motivation and continue to create content that you are passionate about, everything else will fall into place.
Loryn: How would you describe your music in one sentence?
Willie: Country rock and roll with a pop flavor.
Loryn: What is the story behind your song My Brother?
Willie: My Brother is a song I wrote by myself as a tribute to a friend we lost this year. It is an extremely emotional song for me, and my favorite single I have ever released. My goal is for anyone who is going through the loss of someone special to hear My Brother and find comfort in the message behind the song.
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Willie: I studied opera in school and traveled the world as a member of a professional men's a cappella group, Gentleman's Rule! You can check out our videos on youtube.
