I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Trevor Houston about five random facts about himself, what inspired him to create his show Who Ya Know. Plus learning an interesting fact about Trevor Houston . Check out my interview with Trevor below:
Loryn: What inspired you to create Who Ya Know?
Trevor: I had been following a mortgage show in my area and always wanted to do radio.
I got invited to be on my first radio interview which really gave me the buzz for it. I decided right then and there I was going to start researching studios where I could create a program to give back to the job seeker audience I was already serving. A month later we signed with KVGI Radio and the WYK Show was born! A lot has changed since the pandemic. KVGI Radio closed & we upgraded to Real News PR & are now a full studio talk show.
Loryn: What have you've learned about yourself during this pandemic?
Trevor: I learned that I am extremely adaptable. Constantly learning and always growing to figure out the best ways of doing business in a digital world. 2020 was one of our most successful years ever.
Loryn: Who is a guest you'd love to have on your show Who Ya Know?
Trevor: I would love to interview Gary Vaynerchuck. I hear he is really in tuned with recruiting and hiring at Vayner Media.
Loryn: What key strategies would you give job seekers who are currently looking for a job?
Trevor: Hitting the apply button is just step #1. I would tell them to get on LinkedIn, optimize your profile & create a social brand through content to drive the employers to your profile. I would tell them network like crazy! Hiring is a people business. You need to get face to face!
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Trevor: I was once terrified of public speaking. Now, it is a key factor of what drives me. If you have a message, you cannot share it by staying comfortable.
